OK, so I was at a chick party the other night. You know the kind. All women. A chance to get out and just be. No kids. No hubbies. A little wine (a lot of wine?!). Some snacks. The next thing you know, things are getting interesting. Whose husband does laundry? Whose cooks? Whose gives the kids a bath? So, a friend of mine – let’s call her Sue - all of a sudden, she starts talking about boobs. I’m not kidding. It’s like national boob month or something. They’re on license plates, in party discussions…She says, "I don’t even know why God gave us boobs! They’re just a big pain."
She was talking about how hard it is to find a bra that fits her properly and that is comfortable. Now before you AA’s start slinging mud at her (believe me, I’m right there with you…most of the time.), let’s hear her out – via me.
Being a DD cup is uncomfortable in more than one way, according to Sue. She hates the way it feels to have men’s eyes on her chest all the time, and the weight of these suckers is painful. So, truly, finding a bra is a major hassle. She said she can’t even find one that fits properly at
Victoria’s Secret (I know, I thought all the girls with big knockers bought all their bras there, too…). She said she has to go to Target, and even then, she has a helluva time.
So, back to the line: "I don’t even know why God gave us boobs!" OK, I didn’t have the nerve to ask at the time, and this is getting a little personal, but is it possible that bigger busted women derive less pleasure in the sack from this body part than their smaller busted friends? Ladies, I’m going out on a limb when I say that I’m glad God blessed me with what little I do have!

I see where you big busted ladies are coming from here. I had a college roomie who had a reduction and she was very happy about it. I just wanted to pipe in from the OTHER side of the bra size scale. I am a 36 A. I hate bra shopping too, you know why? Because there aren’t any cute bras SMALL enough for me that fit right. I don’t want a bra that has a pound of padding in it, or makes my boobs look fake because my small boobs don’t fill up the left over space after the padding. So they look and feel weird. I can’t find UNPADDED bras that fit right because I am SO flat that I need SOME kind of SOMETHING there to make me look like a girl not a boy. I don’t think I have EVER had a bra that I was perfectly happy with. I just want to be able to go braless or wear an unpadded bra with confidence. Someday I am getting implants and then I will be able to see what it feels like to fill out a top. You all hate being a DD or a G or whatever, but you wouldn’t want to be a measly little A, either, I bet. You C cup biatches are the ones who got all the luck!
Been there, done that, got a reduction and never looked back!
DD to D. Not a huge difference, but now they’re smaller AND higher on my chest.
Also: Bra-wise, Maidenform has decently sized bras that AREN’T hideous.
Can’t agree with you ladies more – I am a 10E (australian size) and have finally found some lovely, sexy, comfotable bras by Simone Perle. No longer am I constrained in the monoboob of a minimizer but they are supported properly and I feel very good as well. My younger sister had a reduction at the age of 16 and she loves her little c cups but it was a very painful process but she feels it was very worth it for her.
I HATE my DDs! My dad even offered for me to have a reduction but I’ve heard too many horror stories. I’ve bought bras every where trying to find comfortable ones. Right now my most comfortable and flattering(that’s the catch..to find one which is both)came from Pennys. I like the ones from Lane Bryant too. I would kill to be a C cup again!
Your friend is totally right, big boobs can be a giant pain! I considered a reduction, but ultimately ended up seeing a trainer who helped me build up my back muscles, which relieved the back pain.
As far as bras are concerned, they’re difficult but not impossible to find. Try barenecessities.com or figleaves.com or the Elle Macpherson collection (sold at Nordstroms). Don’t order online if you can help it, suck it up and go to a store. You can find big bras that are pretty, it just takes more work. They are, however, more expensive than VS bras. They can range anywhere from $50-100! I’m definitely not wealthy, so I have bought a few great bras and just take very good care of them (no machine washing).
If you live in/near Atlanta or NYC, make an appointment at “Intimacy” for a fitting. http://www.myintimacy.com
These people hate minimizers (which was all I was wearing… not very helpful in the love life department, especially because I’m 24 not 84)
I know you’re onto something there. And I agree wholeheartedly with your friend. I am a 36G and it can be a nightmare. Victoria’s Secret doesn’t make anything big enough to fit me, so I have to drive to a specialty store 30 minutes away. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the free drinks on occassion. However, I hate wondering whether a man is really interested in me or if he just wants to be able to say he hooked up with a chick with a “huge rack” (not to mention the back pain). I guess the grass is always greener, ladies.
are you kidding?!?!?! Please! I’ve had these things since i was 11 years old, and they are NO walk in the park! Bras!?!?! OH PLEASE!!! Years and years and dollars and dollars wasted. WASTED! Particularly at VS’s who’d like to THINK they make bras for all sizes but in reality makes bras ONLY for those women who don’t NEED them! Try Bali’s underwire Padded with the extra wide shoulder straps! I KNOW I KNOW! Padding on a Double D!?!?! Trust me, the padding in the bottom of the cup actually works at lifting so all the weight is not on the shoulders and back. Makes em look a bit like torpedoes, but hell at MY age (43) Who cares what they look like as long as it’s comfortable! And as a postscript … no girls, being busty is NOT all its cracked up to be, just read these posts!!!! LOL
Being a DDD I completely agree with Sue. I hate my big boobs. Bra shopping is worse than going to the dentist and shirts never fit properly.
Let me say that I feel your friend’s pain. I’m a 42 DD, and have always had relatively large breasts in comparison to my age (I’m 27). Anyway, for YEARS I thought that the best place to get my bras would be Victoria’s Secret. Oh, how wrong I was.
Send your friend to Lane Bryant. The bras there are amazing. My favorite is the balconette by Cacique (ka-seek). No, no, I don’t work there, but I do believe in promoting good products. These bras are incredible. When I put on my first one, I wore it out of the store. It was an uplifting experience. I felt a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders (and redistributed properly).
They are a wee bit pricy, but no more so than Vicky S’s stuff, and they’re much better-made. They run about $30 to $32 dollars, but LB often has coupons out and sales like buy one get one half off or something like that. Keep an eye out.
Also, they have a neat design that flattens without hurting so that more bulk of the breast is toward the side, rather than projecting to the front like some sort of Madonna outfit. I love them. Try them out!
The girls have grown from a C in high school to a pair of DDs now at 33. Thankfully the big boobs offset the fat butt! Definitely no prob in bed. One downside tho is my youngest , when she gives me a hug says “they are squishy…”
The girls are big and I hate dealing with them. A C-cup is as large as could possibly be considered desirable to own, in my experience. Oh how I miss being a C-cup – sadly I’ll never be 15 again.
I was a DD BEFORE I got pregnant. I have no idea what they are now, since I’m living in sports-style nursing bras, size XL.
Even pre-pregnancy, real bras were super-expensive, ugly, and difficult to find.
I don’t how the girls compare in sensitivity to regular-sized or small ones, but I’ve dealt with a fair number of men who fixate on the boobs, making me enjoy the attention less.
I became a runner later in life only because by the sports bras were supportive enough. Think of what I was missing all those years.
I don’t run now but can’t imagine doing so on all the concrete in NYC.
I’m a DD and have just started wearing sports bras all the time. I can’t find a regular bra that fits right or doesn’t dig into some part of itch. It’s hell.
i have a fight now while prego was borderline e / f before, bras are a nightmare at that size and VERY expensive!!
in toronto i go to sophia’s
i’ve been a b, c and now a dd. even though they hang to my waist, this dd chick has no problem with them in the sack.
The rummor about them shrinking after babies…not true here. I was a B when it all started. My youngest is 3, the ladies are now DD. Now of course I’m heavier but come on!!
Anyway, a long-winded way to say I’ve had both and they’re both sensitive–thank god!
